Goodshout vs NiceJob: which review tool suits a small business?
Updated 19 October 2026 · 3 min read
NiceJob and Goodshout both help small businesses get more Google reviews. They go about it differently, and each suits a different kind of business. Here is a plain comparison.
We make Goodshout, so we are not neutral. We have kept to what NiceJob publishes about itself (checked in October 2026), and said where it does something we do not. Check their site for current details before you decide.

Where NiceJob is the better fit
- You want to ask by text message. NiceJob sends requests by SMS as well as email. Goodshout does not send text messages today. It sends email and gives you a QR code for in-person asks.
- You want review widgets and a microsite. NiceJob can show your reviews on your own site and has a reviews page built for search. Goodshout does not.
- You want to track competitors or staff. NiceJob lists a competitor view and a leaderboard of which team members drive the most reviews.
Where Goodshout is the better fit
- You want a low, clear price in New Zealand dollars. Goodshout is free to start and $29.99 a month when you want more, with GST shown separately. NiceJob is priced in US dollars.
- Email and a QR code are enough for you. For many NZ trades and cafes they are, and you do not pay for features you will not use.
- You want customers to have a private way to tell you about a problem. Every Goodshout customer sees the same two choices, and anything private reaches you straight away so you can put it right.
- You want it built around NZ rules. Goodshout is built to follow Google's policy and New Zealand law, including asking every customer and never offering rewards for reviews.
So which one?
If texting customers and widgets matter to you and the price suits, NiceJob is a solid choice. If you want to start free, keep costs low and send by email and QR code, Goodshout is built for that.
You do not have to decide on features alone. Goodshout's free plan has no card and no time limit, so you can try it with a handful of real customers first.
