goodshout

Free Google review link and QR code generator

Find your business, and get a direct link and a QR code to your Google review box. Free, no account needed, made for New Zealand businesses.

Type at least 3 letters and pick yours from the list.

Or send customers to a page that does more

With Goodshout, customers tap a link in a short email, or scan your QR sticker, and land on this page with your business name on it. Every customer sees the same two choices.

  • Leave a review takes them straight to your Google review box.
  • Tell us privately comes to you first, with an alert, so you can put it right.

Your link is a great start. Reviews decide who gets chosen.

97%

of people read reviews before they choose a local business.

65%

of people who walked away from a business did so for a review-related reason.

1 in 3

now want to see 4.5 stars or better before they will use you.

Industry estimates from BrightLocal, Moz and Whitespark, 2026. Not numbers Google publishes.

More, and fresher, reviews also get you found

When someone searches “plumber near me”, Google picks the few businesses to show on the map. Its own guidance says review count and star rating are part of how it ranks them. A steady flow of recent reviews tends to put you above a business with a handful from two years ago.

A link makes it easy for a customer to leave a review. Goodshout asks every customer for you, right after the job, so the reviews keep coming without you having to remember.

QR codes, your way

Goodshout makes your QR code for you. Customers scan it and land on your page with two equal choices: leave a review, or tell you privately. Print it on a sticker for the counter or the van, a table card, a sign, a business card or your invoices.

Plumber: own logo, font and wording
Cafe: brand colour, serif font
Gym: orange, bold condensed font

Choose from 9 layouts in more than 25 sizes. On Pro, add your logo, your brand colours, your choice of fonts and your own wording, so it looks like yours. These are examples.

Copy us in and we send the request

Add one address to the emails you already send, and Goodshout asks every customer for a review. No lists and no copy-paste.

Copy us in

Add your Goodshout address to the Bcc or Cc line of any email you send a customer: a quote, a thank-you, an invoice or a normal message.

Or forward it

Forgot to BCC? Forward an email you already sent to your Goodshout address and we take it from there.

Not emailing them?

Start a request from a Stripe payment, a Calendly booking or almost anything else, using Zapier or Make.

We only take your customer’s name and email address. We never save invoices, receipts or amounts.

Ready for reviews that come in by themselves?

Free for up to 25 customers a month. No card needed. About 60 seconds to set up.

How to use your link

  1. 1. Find your business. Type your name and suburb, and pick yours from the list.
  2. 2. Copy the link or download the QR. Open the link on your phone first, to see exactly what customers see.
  3. 3. Put it where customers are. Text it after a job, add it to invoices and emails, and print the QR for the counter, the table or the van.

How to find your Google review link yourself

The tool above does this for you, but here is how it works if you would like to do it by hand.

  1. From your Business Profile. Search your business name on Google while signed in to the account that manages it, then tap Ask for reviews. Google gives you a short link to copy.
  2. Using your Place ID. Your Place ID is the code Google gives your listing. A review link is Google’s write-a-review page followed by ?placeid= and your Place ID. That is the kind of link this tool makes.
  3. Test it before you share it. Open the link on your phone. It should open Google’s review box for your business, after a sign-in if you are not already signed in.

More detail in our guide to getting your Google review link.

If your link is not working

  • It opens a search page, not the review box. The link is probably missing the ?placeid= part, or it was cut when you copied it. Copy it again in full.
  • It opens the wrong business. Two listings can have similar names. Search again with your suburb or town and pick the one with your address.
  • I can’t find my business in the list. Only businesses with a Google Business Profile appear. Try your name with your suburb. If you do not have a profile yet, you need one to collect Google reviews, and our setup service can create it.
  • Customers say their review has not appeared. New reviews can take a little while to show, and some are held for checks. See why a Google review is not showing.

Using your QR code

  • Print it big enough. At least 3 cm wide, so phones scan it easily. Bigger is better for signs and posters.
  • Keep it clear. Dark code on a light background, with the white border left around it. Do not stretch it or put it on a busy picture.
  • Test it on two phones before you print a lot of copies.
  • Put it where people wait. The counter, the table, the mirror, the front desk, the van, the invoice or the bottom of your emails. Our guides for plumbers, cafes, hairdressers and other trades say where it works best for each.

Is it okay to ask customers for reviews?

Yes. Google encourages it. What is not allowed is offering a reward in return for a review, or only asking the customers you expect to be happy. Ask everyone the same way. Our guides on incentives and review gating explain the rules in New Zealand and Australia.

Rather not fix links and print codes by hand?

Goodshout sends the request for you after every job, with your review link already in it, and customers can tell you privately if something went wrong. Free for up to 25 customers a month.

Common questions

Is this really free?+
Yes. You don't need an account. Your link shows straight away, and the QR code downloads are unlocked when you give us an email, which we also send your link and QR code to. If you want customers to be able to tell you privately as well, or want to see who opened it, a free Goodshout account does that.
What does the link do?+
It's Google's own write-a-review address for your business. On a phone it opens the review box straight away, after a quick Google sign-in if the customer isn't already signed in.
Why can't I find my business?+
Only businesses with a Google Business Profile appear. Try your business name with your suburb or town. If you don't have a profile yet, our Google Business Profile setup service can create one.
Where should I put the QR code?+
Somewhere customers are already looking and have a moment: the counter, the table, the invoice or receipt, the van, the front desk or the bottom of your emails. Print it at least 3 cm wide so phones scan it easily.
Can I offer a discount for leaving a review?+
No. Google doesn't allow rewards in return for reviews, and you should ask every customer, not just the ones you expect to be happy. Our guide on incentives explains the rules.
What is a Place ID?+
It's the code Google gives every business listing. A review link is Google's write-a-review page plus your Place ID, which tells it which business to open. You don't need to know yours, because this tool finds it for you when you pick your business.
Do customers need a Google account to leave a review?+
Yes. Google asks anyone who isn't signed in to log in first, then they choose their stars and write a few words. That's Google's rule, and it applies to every review link.
Can I use one link for more than one location?+
Each location has its own Google listing, so each has its own link. Make one for each branch, and use the right one at each location.
Does the link ever change?+
It stays the same for your listing. If you ever merge, move or recreate your listing, make a new link and test it again.
