Common questions

Is asking for reviews allowed?+
Yes. Asking every customer for honest feedback is fine. What is not allowed is hiding the review option from people who might rate you badly. Goodshout shows it to everyone and the customer posts their own review. More in the guide.
Does it connect to my accounting or job software?+
On Pro, yes, by email. BCC your Goodshout address when you send an invoice, or forward a confirmation email afterwards, and a request goes out on its own, no software connection needed. Works from your own inbox (Gmail, Outlook, whatever you use) or straight from Xero, ServiceM8, Jobber, Fergus, and most other invoicing software.
How do customers get the request?+
By email. Add customers from the dashboard, print the link as a QR code for the counter or the van, or hand it over on your phone. On Pro it also goes out automatically after a job or an invoice.
Do I need a website?+
No. The feedback page and everything the customer sees is hosted by Goodshout. A website just gives you one more place to put the review widget if you want it.
What happens to a bad review someone was about to leave?+
If they pick the private option, it comes to you instead of going public. You will see it in your dashboard and get an alert straight away. You still get the chance to make it right, and they can still leave a public review later if they want to.
Does Goodshout write the reviews?+
It gives the customer a starting point based on what they tell you went well. They have to make it their own before they can post it, so it sounds like them, not like a template.
Can I try it before paying?+

What if my Google listing is a mess, or I don't have one?+
We can sort that out for you. Our Google Business Profile service sets it up from scratch or tunes an existing one, then hands it back to you.
